Urban cycling is undergoing a revolution and Jan and Zuzana Malin’s E-CAFE BIKE is part of it with the help of Technological Incubation. The startup’s e-bikes and cargo carts combine original design with energy self-sufficiency, which has won it a competition Creative Business Cup.
“Thanks to the Technology Incubation from CzechInvest, we received a CZK 4.6 million subsidy, which enabled us to develop an innovative cargo truck with its own electric drive and minimal carbon footprint.
It can carry up to 250 kg of cargo without physical effort and is the only one on the market that is fully energy self-sufficient – the solar panels recharge the battery while driving and, under ideal conditions, can fully recharge in 8 hours, reducing the carbon footprint by up to 50% compared to conventional cargo bikes.”

It is this ecological approach that brought the startup the victory in the national round of the Creative Business Cup 2024 competition, organized by the CzechInvest agency. And these are not the only successes of the startup. It is the only Czech startup to have graduated from the EIT Urban Mobility Investment Readiness Program and to be ranked among the top 10 startups in Europe. It was also awarded as one of the TOP 10 sustainable companies in the Czech Republic in the SME EnterPrize by Generali, and with the support of Technology Incubation, it was also presented at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona.
The owners are currently preparing to expand into European markets.”We have our first business contacts in France, Benelux and Spain. This year we want to focus more on DACH markets, where participation in the CzechInvest’s Internationalisation Acceleration Programme can help us significantly. Within this programme we have received a subsidy of CZK 2 million, which I believe will open the way for our expansion into other foreign markets ,” concludes Zuzana Malinová.
