Check out this photo look back from a regular event focused on connecting our startup community.
The amount of support offered has been increased from EUR 50,000 (CZK 1.26 million) this year thanks to the connection with the CzechInvest Technology Incubation programme, the press release reads. The money for space startups will therefore come from the budget of the European Space Agency as well as from national sources.
“The last few years have also brought an interesting trend in the field of Czech space startups. The emphasis is gradually shifting from software development to the development of hardware solutions. More and more we also have startups that develop satellites or their subsystems ,” said Michal Kuneš, Programme Manager of ESA BIC Czech Republic.
The first ESA BIC business incubator was established in 2004 in the Netherlands. There are currently thirty such incubators in twenty-one countries, with more than 1600 startups supported. In the Czech Republic, this incubator opened in 2016 and so far about fifty startups have received support there.
The state agency CzechInvest was established in 1992. It helps to increase the investment potential of the Czech Republic and helps Czech startups to enter foreign markets. Last year it negotiated ten investment projects worth CZK 19 billion, which will create 4125 new jobs. In 2022, there were 24 projects negotiated, but the volume of investment was almost identical, amounting to CZK 19.3 billion.
