On Monday 18. The CzechInvest agency closed the call for applications for the third call for the Technology Incubation project on December 1. A total of 169 were submitted. This year’s second call opened up for the first time to all areas of innovation, so projects focused on biotechnology, advanced materials, healthcare or security solutions could also be supported. CzechInvest has CZK 124 million ready for this call.
“We are pleased that thanks to the Technology Incubation project we can contribute to the development of the innovation ecosystem in areas key to the Czech economy. Through this project, we help build partnerships between innovative companies, investors, research organisations, government or regional institutions in the form of innovation hubs and support companies with high growth potential. In this call, we have expanded the supported areas in particular to include the use of advanced materials and topics related to the so called. “life sciences” and resilience-enhancing solutions. We are pleased that there is a huge interest in this new sector, which we have named Tech4Life,” said Petr Očko, Chief Director of the Digitisation and Innovation Section of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Director in Charge of the CzechInvest agency.
The newly opened Tech4Life Hub, focused on projects for the preservation and protection of life, recorded 41 registered startups. Projects in the field of artificial intelligence follow, with 40 applications submitted. Creative industries round out the top three with 33 applications. The Advanced Tech & Materials Hub, another new area opened in this call, recorded 12 applications. In terms of the location of individual applicants, Prague, the South Moravian Region and the Central Bohemian Region are the most represented.
“An important milestone for us in the third call was the one thousand registered projects in the pre-incubation, which we reached at the beginning of December. K breaking this magic threshold has also helped to open up the challenge to other sectors. We are pleased that there is such a great interest in the Technology Incubation, which shows the high number of quality innovative ideas in the Czech Republic.” says Tereza Kubicová, deputy for technological development.
The Technology Incubation project represents a major investment in the future of Czech industry. It will support more than 250 innovative start-ups with approximately CZK 680 million in seven key areas over five years. These are highly promising for the further economic development and competitiveness of the Czech Republic. In the coming year, the Technology Incubation project plans, among other things, to further connect the activities of the Space Hub with the ESA Bic Czech Republic space incubator.
The project is implemented with financial support from the state budget through the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the programme The Country for the Future.
