Device for positioning and stabilization of the paylod in the stratosphere.
The PATRON project is a technology facility that aims to develop a robust and highly accurate two-axis launch gimbal (positioning system) for deployment on High Altitude Pseudo-Satellites (HAPS). It allows stabilization and control of optical or communication sensors at extreme altitudes of 15-25 km, with high angular accuracy. Its importance also lies in its modular design, high payload capacity and ability to operate in extreme temperatures. It targets applications in Earth observation, remote communication and atmospheric research
Unique Selling Points
- A new generation of gimbal for the stratosphere – technology developed to make accurate sensing and communication from around 20 km altitude accessible to smaller players.
- Long-term operation in extreme conditions, operating life 6-12 months.
- An alternative to satellites – a reusable system without creating space debris.
- Modular and customizable design – easy integration of different sensors (optics, RF, hyperspectral cameras).
