In autumn, the best of the Czech startup scene will again be presented in Prague, and foreign companies will also be present. Czech Startup Week, an initiative of the CzechInvest agency, annually concentrates the key events of the ecosystem into a single week so that it can offer founders, investors, corporations, budding entrepreneurs and startup enthusiasts access to the full breadth of what the Czech startup scene has to offer in the course of one week.

The report was taken from the website CzechStartups.gov.cz

For international visitors, this means a fixed date in the calendar that can be planned two years in advance. During the week, they can choose from a range of independent events according to their own interests.

The key is how Czech Startup Week works: it is not one centrally managed programme, but a coordinated network of separate events that run in parallel, and each organiser handles the organisation in its own way. The organisers work together on PR and communication, but each event has its own organiser, its own programme and its own character. The result is a varied and diverse week full of opportunities.

“The Czech startup scene has a lot to offer and Czech Startup Week is an opportunity to show it to the world. The main event organised by CzechInvest is the #demoday of the Technology Incubation and Incubator ESA BIC Czech Republic projects, where startups get the opportunity to present themselves to investors and partners live on stage. At a time when we do a lot of things online, face-to-face meetings are still what really move collaboration forward, and that’s exactly what we want to use Czech Startup Week for,” explains Markéta Přenosilová, CzechInvest Deputy for Startups and Innovation.

“Czech Startup Week connects the main programme, which also creates a number of accompanying events across the ecosystem. At least ten smaller gatherings take place around the Engaged conference alone each year, and the event itself brings investors from all over Europe to Prague, last year from 23 countries. This makes it one of the key opportunities to connect the Czech startup ecosystem with foreign capital and show that the Czech Republic is a strong and quality technology country “, says Eliška Vámošová, director of the Engaged Investments conference.

“The future of the Czech economy will depend on innovation, technology and the ability to cooperate across sectors. Events like Tech Happy Hours or ENGAGED Investments help create an environment where ideas become companies, contacts become partnerships and local projects become global successes. Our goal is to make Prague a natural meeting point for the European startup community. That’s why we organizers – from Startup Kitchen, Czech Founders and CzechInvest – go to Tech Happy Hours every year”, says Tomáš Cironis, CEO of Startup Kitchen and ex-partner of the Luxembourg VC fund Ilavska Vuillermoz Capital.
