Competitions, workshops, summer festivals and inspirational camps. The CzechInvest Agency, through the Support for Entrepreneurship project, is organising or co-organising dozens of events this year aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among young people across the Czech Republic. The move is part of the agency’s broader efforts to foster the entrepreneurial spirit among the younger generation and help the development of innovative startups.
Promoting entrepreneurship is a key pillar of the CzechInvest strategy, which aims not only to increase the number of newly emerging businesses but also to improve their competitiveness on the domestic and international market. The programme will organise workshops, seminars, hackathons, and other educational events to provide young people with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully start their businesses.
“We want to introduce young people at events across the Czech Republic not only to the benefits of entrepreneurship, but also to offer opportunities and inspiration to develop their own ideas. That’s why we focus on areas such as innovation, technology and sustainability, which are one of the prerequisites for the future success of start-ups,” says Jan Michal, Director General of the CzechInvest agency. He adds: “Supporting young entrepreneurs is a good investment because it helps them get on their feet and brings innovation and new job opportunities to the regions.”
Among the nearly one hundred and fifty events is the upcoming Rock for People music festival, which will take place from 12-15. June 2024 in Hradec Králové. Three startups from the Technology Incubation project will present their projects to the general public at the KB Future Fest Zone. “We want to inspire young people to be entrepreneurial, to not be afraid to try new things and push their boundaries. Rock for People allows us to be closer to people and introduce them to technologically innovative concepts that can inspire them to pursue their business dreams,”says Markéta Mentelová, director of the Creative Hub of the Technology Incubation project.
“Rock for People is no longer a purely music festival. It has also become a showroom for technology, design and innovation. Our long-term and progressively implemented strategy is to increase creative competences and build new capacities in this direction. It is these attributes that come together in the Komerční banka and Mastercard zone, with the help of CzechInvest, to give visitors a glimpse into the future of sustainable festivals. We still have a long way to go and we are pleased to have partners who have embarked on this journey with us,” says Michal Thomes, Director of Rock for People.
CzechInvest representatives will also be at the popular Colours of Ostrava festival, which focuses on music, but also on promoting interdisciplinarity, innovation and entrepreneurship. At the event, he is participating in the international Meltingpot discussion forum.
The Entrepreneurship Support project is aimed at high school and university students, young professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs who want to gain practical experience and expert advice from successful entrepreneurs and experts in various fields. CzechInvest also plans to cooperate with universities, research institutions and private companies to ensure the highest level of quality and relevance of the events provided.
The Entrepreneurship Support Project is part of the National Recovery Plan, Component 1.4. Digital Economy and Society, Innovative Start-ups and New Technologies, funded by the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility.
