The CzechInvest Agency together with its long-term partners BIC Plzeň, Brno.ai, ICT Unie, MSIC Ostrava, prg.ai and the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic agreed on the establishment of the Czech National AI Platform (CNAIP), which will have the main objective to better connect the academic, public, private and non-profit sectors and strengthen the Czech Republic in the field of artificial intelligence.
“The platform can help make better use of AI in a range of areas, from education to the private sector to public administration.
CzechInvest has long been working to modernise the Czech economy, including the development of artificial intelligence.
In addition to cooperation with partners, our key tool is the Technology Incubation Programme, in which we supported over 30 AI startups in the first year of the programme.” says Jan Michal, Director General of the CzechInvest agency.
The Agency’s activities build on a number of activities to promote AI, e.g.
In 2018, CzechInvest co-organised a project to support economic diplomacy – a technology mission to Canada – during which representatives of Czech universities and the Czech Academy of Sciences met, and in the following months, following the mission, they established the prg.ai association, which has been supporting Prague’s AI ecosystem since 2019.
At the same time, the agency supports major events to promote technologies around artificial intelligence and is actively involved in the organization of the largest Czech event, DnyAI.
It was the co-organization of three editions of DnyAI that brought together the first four partners, who were subsequently joined by the ICT Union and the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic thanks to their activities in support of AI.
“The Czech Republic is a great country, but given its size, we need to join forces to support areas that have great potential to help our economy in the transition from a manufacturing to a higher value-added, innovation-based economy.
The field of artificial intelligence undoubtedly fulfils this, which is why I am delighted that we have been able to formalise our long-term collaboration with partners by establishing an AI platform, ” said Zdeněk Havel, Director of the AI Hub CzechInvest.
The basis of the platform’s cooperation will be the autumn festival of artificial intelligence DnyAI, which will take place for the third time on 14-27.
October 2024.
In November, the AI Awards, the only industry awards for artificial intelligence in the Czech Republic, will be announced under the CNAIP banner.
125 startups applied for the fourth call of the Technology Incubation project. The CzechInvest Agency plans to support approximately fifty of them with CZK 118 million. CZK.
